The Primary Colors of Cannabis
The first modern cannabis hybrid was created in the summer of 1969 in the Santa Cruz mountains by a surfer we only know by his first initial “G”. Legend has it that he crossed together three varieties from Colombia and created what the world has come to know as Original Haze. This was a significant milestone for cannabis because during the 1960s, the majority of cannabis that was coming into the United States was coming from tropical regions such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Colombia, Mexico, and Jamaica and were designated by names that indicated where they were grown such as; Colombian Gold, Acapulco Gold, Michoacán, and Thai Stick.

Clearing the smoke around Roadkill Skunk and other Hindu Kush Genetics
Of all the varieties that I have grown, Roadkill Skunk has to be the most requested and also the least understood. Many people think it is a variety, when in reality, it is more of a description of cannabis found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Hindu Kush mountains. Afghan varieties of cannabis have been common in the US since the hippies started bringing back seeds from the “Hippie Trail” that spanned from London to India. As the hippies explored, they collected seeds from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and India.
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome - C.H.S. is B.S.
Modern medicine often moves quickly. A clinical observation becomes a hypothesis, a hypothesis becomes a paper, and before long that paper becomes a diagnostic reflex. But when the foundational evidence is thin, repetition can substitute for proof, and speculation can harden into certainty. Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is a case study in how that process unfolds. Today, patients presenting with cyclic vomiting who admit to cannabis use are frequently told they have CHS. The diagnosis is often delivered with confidence.
The Horrible Story of Nevil’s Holland Seed Bank, his employee Raymond Anthony Cogo, and the Start of Operation Green Merchant
After reviewing all of the facts and timeline, I no longer view Nevil as a great breeder. In light of the documentation, his history and timeline, I think his greatest achievement was convincing High Times magazine that he was responsible for the work of Skunkman Sam a.k.a. David Watson, as well as Seattle Greg and his friends. In June of 1984, Nevil purchased a majority of the genetics of Sacred Seeds catalog from Skunkman Sam: Skunk #1, California Orange, Hindu Kush, Early Girl, Early Pearl and later on Haze, were all from Skunkman Sam and his friends, and were all bred, and developed in the United States. The Afghan #1 and Durban Poison were from Mel Frank, which he gave to Skunkman Sam and became part of the Sacred Seeds collection. Nevil had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of Haze. Nevil did not receive the two Haze males that he worked with until they were given to him by Skunkman Sam in late 1987.
